Get Involved with Toward Independence!
On Saturday, May 21, 2011 (NOTE: Date tentative, definite date TBA in fall 2010), Toward Independence will host the ninth annual Walk for Independence, a 2.5-mile walk to raise funds to benefit our agency’s mission: assisting people with developmental disabilities to live the fullest life possible by providing individualized services in a variety of community settings.
As the agency’s primary fundraising event, the Walk for Independence attracts an estimated 500 participants on an annual basis and continues to grow. TII staff and consumers, consumer family members, community members, businesses, high school and college student organizations, church groups, and many others get actively involved in this worthy cause. Participants can walk individually, or as part of a regular or corporate team. With a continental breakfast; an event t-shirt featuring the funky walk logo; airbrush tattoos and balloon sculptures; a Zumba walker warm-up session; and fun prizes and giveaways, who can resist! The Walk for Independence 2010 raised $18,000, touching the lives of many special people!
Consider walking to make a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. To register, simply download our registration form below in PDF format, fill it out, and mail it to the address provided on the form along with your $12 registration fee (additional fees apply to regular and corporate teams). Although pledge collection is not required, each walker is encouraged to attempt to raise at least $50.
